Storm swoop to secure big man Nsangu

Hemel Storm are delighted to announce the signing of 6’8” big man Ty Nsangu. 

The British centre has spent the last two seasons with Reading Rockets, helping them win the inaugural BCB League title last time out. 

He also lifted the NBL Division One playoff, National Cup and KitKing trophies in the 2024/25 campaign, and finished runners-up in last season’s BCB playoffs. 

Ready for a new challenge, Nsangu joins an exciting roster assembled by Head Coach Tom Baker, looking to contribute to a season of success at Storm.

“We all know how successful Hemel Storm is a club and I want to help bring them back to the top.

“I’m excited to meet the fans, away days to Hemel have always been something to look forward to because of how great the atmosphere is. Thankfully this time I’ll be on the correct side.”

Nsangu started his senior career with the Worthing Thunder in 2022, before joining fellow NBL Division One side London Elite for the 2023/24 campaign. 

An impressive season in the capital saw him move to Reading, where he impressed across a two-year spell. 

Nsangu’s physical presence has seen him carve a reputation as an excellent defender, shot-blocker and rebounder, as well as an explosive threat on the offensive ring. 

He was included in England’s 3x3 training camp ahead of this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, and recently made it through Ball Out’s 3x3 London qualifiers. 

The high-flying Brit marks Baker’s eighth recruit of the summer, following Sam Newman, Kai Walker, Brayden Inger, Jovan Rai, Jabari Nurse, Jared Small and Yves Nkomba in making the StormDome their home for the 2026/27 campaign. 

Baker added: “Ty is a hugely important addition and gives us the physical presence that we needed. 

“He has established himself as an outstanding rebounder, and plays with energy, physicality and a willingness to do the work that helps a team win. 

“He runs the floor, creates pressure around the rim, gives us second possessions and will add a scoring punch at his position. 

“I believe he can become a major part of our identity at both ends of the floor.”
