Nurse switches New York for Hertfordshire as Storm’s latest signing

Hemel Storm are delighted to announce the signing of American guard Jabari Nurse. 

Nurse will switch New York for Hertfordshire as Head Coach Tom Baker’s latest addition to an exciting looking roster, having spent the last four years at Pace University. 

Alongside studying a major in information technology, he was a vital part of their basketball setup before graduating earlier this year. 

Standing at 6’5”, Nurse was named in the Northeast 10 All-Defensive Team for the 2025/26 campaign, as well as earning Northeast 10 Academic All-Conference and Second Team All-Northeast honours. 

Having started all 27 games throughout the season, Nurse averaged 12.5 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, as well as over two assists and a pair of steals.

“The club's winning tradition and passionate community made this an easy decision. I can’t wait to get to work with my teammates and connect with the fans from day one!” 

Nurse has carved a reputation as a talented two-way player, capable of contributing on both ends of the floor, and was named one of Pace’s team captains as recognition of his leadership abilities and unrelenting work ethic. 

He will be the second Pace graduate to suit up for Storm, following former NBL Division One MVP Greg Poleon. 

Away from his on-court duties, Nurse has a background as a model, fitness influencer and coach. 

Nurse joins Sam Newman, Kai Walker, Brayden Inger and Jovan Rai in committing to Storm for the 2026/2027 campaign, with a roster designed to compete at the top of the British Championship Basketball league. 

Baker, who recently signed a new two-year deal as Head Coach and Club Programme Development Lead, believes his latest recruit will fit right in. 

“Jabari is an elite-level defender and a strong two-way player who we believe can have a major impact on the group,” Baker added. 

“He brings competitiveness, toughness and experience, while also having the ability to score and influence the game at both ends. 

“Just as importantly, we feel he is a great cultural fit for the identity we are building and someone who can help drive the standards required for us to compete for titles.”
