Inger joins Baker, Newman and Walker in signing two-year deal with Storm

Hemel Storm are delighted to announce Brayden Inger has put pen to paper on a new two-year deal with the club. 

The upcoming season will be the New Zealand-born forward’s fourth in Hertfordshire, having first appeared in the 2023/24 campaign to help inspire a second-consecutive playoff title. 

His involvement in the following term was inhibited by off-court visa issues, but he was an influential part of our inaugural British Championship Basketball campaign last time out. 

He averaged 16.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, as the side recovered from a difficult start to win four of their last five matches, narrowly missing out on the playoffs. 

Those strong showings saw him named the Fans’ Player of the Season. 

Inger, who will complete the current NBL campaign in New Zealand with the Southland Sharks, is looking forward to building on the good work done at the end of last season with Head Coach Tom Baker, who also named him as his Coaches’ Player of the Season.

“Returning to Hemel was an easy decision,” Inger said.

“It’s a true family club with a history of winning, and I’m fully committed to helping us bounce back and getting Hemel basketball back to the top.

“I’m also buzzing to play for Tom again. The way he held us together last season allowed us to finish on a massive high, and we’re ready to carry that momentum forward.”

Inger brings great energy and hustle, able to attack the hoop, utilise his trademark mid-range fadeaway finish, and also connect from long distance. 

He leaves it all out on the court, giving everything for the team every time he steps onto the floor. 

Storm fans can now look forward to watching him for an extended period of time, as he follows Baker, Sam Newman and Kai Walker in committing to Storm for the next two years. 

The club hopes this will help to develop on-court chemistry and provide stability, while furthering the connection between the players and the fans. 

Baker added: “Brayden gives us real continuity and quality. 

“He is versatile, physical and capable of impacting the game in different ways at both ends of the floor. 

“He understands the level, knows the club and will be an important part of the identity we are building. 

“He is currently back in New Zealand playing some of his best basketball, so we are excited about the level and confidence he will bring back with him.”
