Walker set for two more years with Storm

Hemel Storm are excited to confirm the return of Kai Walker on a two-year deal, following an impressive first season last time out. 

Walker joined from Milton Keynes Breakers at the beginning of the last campaign, instantly becoming a fan favourite with his relentless energy and athleticism, despite managing injuries throughout the year. 

He is the third man to commit his future to Storm for the next two seasons, following Sam Newman and Head Coach Tom Baker in signing extended deals. 

The club believe this will help develop on-court relationships, bringing stability and continuity and strengthening the relationship between players and fans. 

Walker, who spent four seasons on the coast with Team Solent Kestrels, is known for his demanding work ethic and dynamism, pushing the floor at a pace opponents often struggle to cope with. 

On his return, Kai said: “I’m very happy to be re-signing for Hemel for next season. 

“After a tough year, we’re ready to get back to what Hemel is all about: competing for trophies and playing winning basketball.

“Personally, it was a difficult season due to an ankle injury, but I’m fully recovered, motivated, and ready to get going. 

“I can’t wait to bring energy, excitement, and plenty of memorable moments for the fans from day one.

The 26-year-old is a well-known face around British basketball, having also spent time with Thames Valley Cavaliers. 

He averaged 11.8 points and more than seven rebounds per game in his maiden campaign at Storm. 

The strong season earned him the club’s Players’ Player award, as well as a spot in the BCB’s end-of-season All-Star game. 

Coach Baker added: “Kai brings energy, competitiveness and a real connection to the club. 

“He is someone who will do whatever the team needs, can contribute in different roles and gives us great value both on and off the court. 

“We are excited to continue to have Kai at Storm as he is a valuable asset for us.”
