City take a break from National League action as Sixways hosts the semi-final of the Sunday Women’s Cup
City host Kidderminster Harriers in the semi-final of the Sunday Women’s Cup, hoping to reach the final for the first time since 2024, where they were crowned winners after beating City’s development side at Claines Lane.
Last time out
City travelled to the Weston Homes Stadium on International Women’s Day in front of 1,700 spectators as they fell to a 7-2 defeat against title-chasing Peterborough United. Maia Clark and Annie Sime were the scorers of City’s goals.
Kidderminster Harriers hosted Barnsley in Droitwich Spa and were on the wrong side of a 3-0 scoreline.
Previous meetings
The two sides are no strangers to each other, having already played each other on three occasions this season, with City coming out on top in all three.
Back in September, City came away 2-0 winners in the FA Women’s National League Cup after a dominant display at Sixways. Second-half goals from captain Jessica Fassnidge and Carys Lowley saw City gain the bragging rights.
City claimed the three points in their first league meeting of the season as the two sides met at Sixways in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands for the first time. Winger Sophie Griffiths scored the only goal of the game to secure City the derby day spoils.
City made it a hat-trick of wins against their local rivals, winning 2-0 away from home, thanks to goals from Maia Clark and Annie Sime.
The story of the Sunday Women’s Cup so far
It was back in January, as City travelled to face another of their local rivals, Bromsgrove Sporting, entering the competition at the Quarter-Final stage.
City were rampant and came away 5-1 winners, thanks to goals from Jess Fassnidge and a brace apiece for Annie Sime and Keeley Crew to set up Sunday’s showdown as Worcester hunt down more silverware.
Sunday’s opponents, Kidderminster Harriers, haven’t played in the competition yet, as they were awarded an away walkover as their scheduled quarter-final clash at Kingfisher wasn’t played.
