READING FORCE

Together with Reading Force, and the Shots Foundation, we're supporting the National Year of Reading. We were delighted to welcome Alison Baverstock MBE and Rebecca Clark from Reading Force to the training ground this week to talk to the players about the importance of reading, and the historical roots of Reading Force in Aldershot.

Reading Force are an Armed Forces charity founded in Aldershot, and they are passionate about using books to bring Forces children and families closer together. Their shared reading initiative encourages families to read, talk, and scrapbook about a book, improving communication and enriching relationships with books and each other.

Reading is linked to a range of benefits including stronger writing skills, improved wellbeing and confidence, as well as increased creativity and imagination. There has been a national decrease in the number of children that read for pleasure in recent years, so we're encouraging you to pick up a book and take part! The players were generously gifted 'The Great Godden' written by Meg Rosoff from Reading Force this week. If you want to read the same book as the players, get involved!
