ATFC WOMEN’S UPDATE: EMMA GREGORY-BARNES
Ladies & Girls’ Academy Round-Up
As we approach the final stretch of the season, there’s a real sense of excitement building across our women’s and girls’ pathway. From league success to cup runs and national finals, the programme continues to go from strength to strength.
Ladies First Team – Title Charge Continues
The Ladies currently sit top of the Hampshire County Division 3, holding a six‑point lead with just four games left to play. Their consistency and resilience have been standout features this season, and they remain firmly in control of their title push.
Cup competition also brought plenty to be proud of. The team reached the semi‑final of the NHDFA Cup, falling to Farnborough – a side competing three leagues above. That run showcased the squad’s quality and ambition, proving they can compete with teams far higher up the pyramid.
Girls’ Academy – A Season of Breakthroughs
The Girls’ Academy continues to shine, with the U13s booking their place in the JPL Warriors Cup Final. They will face York City FC at Corby Town Football Club, a fantastic stage for a group that has shown maturity beyond their years.
Their semi‑final victory was a dramatic one: a 0–0 draw followed by a composed 2–0 win on penalties against Woking FC. A brilliant achievement and a testament to their discipline and character.
Looking Ahead – Building the Pathway
With plans underway to launch our Ladies’ Development Team next season, the strength of the academy becomes even more important. The talent emerging from our girls’ programme is not only exciting but essential to building a sustainable, long‑term pathway for female players at the club.
The future is bright, and the connection between our academy and senior teams has never been stronger.
