MATCH PREVIEW: Plymouth Parkway vs Wimborne Town

Wimborne Town FC | 09 March 2026 | Copy link
After an uninspiring Winter, Wimborne will hope to register their first away win in nearly five months as the Magpies pay a visit to relegation-threatened Plymouth Parkway on Tuesday night.

Having narrowly escaped relegation on goal difference in 2023/24, the Parkway’s three wins in a row secured a 13th-place finish last season, three places and seven points behind the Magpies’ record position in 2024/25.

After a rough start to the current campaign, failing to win in their first ten games, Parkway currently sit second from bottom, with a record of - W8 D6 L17 GF37 GA63. The Devon club is on a five-game losing streak, and currently trail safety by five points, but with two games in hand.

Both sets of fans were subjected to a prolonged wait for this fixture after a traffic incident forced the original schedule in November to be postponed, and once more after a waterlogged pitch pushed the tie back even further following the planned reschedule in mid-January. The hosts will hope for revenge, whilst Wimborne will look to replicate the result of their dramatic 3-2 comeback win at the Wyatt Homes Stadium back in September when two late rapid-fire goals from strikers Will Fletcher and Joe Smith completed the turnaround within three minutes.

Last time out Wimborne shared the points at Yate Town with a 1-1 draw, after an early Ajani Burchall goal was cancelled out late on in Gloucestershire, the 15th time this scoreline occurred in the Southern Premier Division South this season, nearly half of their 31 games played.

Tim Sills will be looking to build on a so far unbeaten March, aiming for a first away league win since October 2025, having gained only four points of the last possible 27 on the road since the Dorset derby win in Dorchester.

The Magpies have also fielded six different goalkeepers since the start of November, having their hands forced to three youth-loans from various football league clubs after first-team stopper Cam Plain sustained an injury away at Hungerford when he clashed with former Premier League striker Charlie Austin.

Last season both sides narrowly won their home games; 2-1 to Parkway at Bolitho Park, and 1-0 to Wimborne at the Wyatt Homes Stadium, with Will Fletcher netting in both fixtures. Plymouth Parkway have been present in both of the Magpies’ latest stint in the Southern League Premier South, having been promoted three years prior in 2021.

The weather forecast suspects that it will be a showering evening in Devon, so don’t forget your raincoats! Come cheer on the boys to do it on a cold, wet, rainy Tuesday night in Plymouth!
