British pair Kyron Martin and Tom Child have both had stellar years, while former London Lions guard Remy Udeh, standing at 6’6”, made the move to Essex in the off-season.

They’re athletic all through the roster, with the likes of Daniel Johnson-Thompson and Tyreese Hudson also residing with the Rebels.

Memorable Meeting:

Sunday 24th March, 2024

NBL Division One

Hemel Storm 90-81 Essex Rebels

Storm won a feisty encounter between the sides at the backend of the 2023/24 season to keep their hopes of securing second place alive.

They weathered a second-half Rebels comeback to claim a nine-point victory, with seven men ejected as tensions spilled over near the final buzzer.

Taylor Johnson had 23 points, while Sam Newman had 19 and Brayden Inger 15.

The Rebels would beat Storm to second place, but it made little difference as Mark Clark’s side went on to win the playoffs.

Last Time Out:

Storm were left heartbroken after an agonising 92-90 defeat against Nottingham Hoods on Saturday.

Tom Baker’s side built up a 16-point lead in a dominant first half, but the Hoods roared back to snatch a thriller at the StormDome.

Darien Nelson-Henry had 26 points, while Kai Walker secured a 14-point, 11-rebound double-double.

The Rebels suffered a similarly disappointing weekend, beaten 84-74 by MK Breakers.

They went into the final quarter all square, but the Breakers limited them to 12 points and claimed a hard-fought win at the Essex Sport Arena.

Brown played all 40 minutes and claimed 24 points, but he couldn’t stop his side slipping to their fourth defeat in a row.

From The Locker Room:

Darien Nelson-Henry: “After a tough loss over the weekend, we’re looking to refocus ahead of Essex.

“There are some positives we would like to carry over from the Nottingham game, but definitely some things to work on moving forward.

“Essex will be a good team to test our response against.”
