Reading Rocket’s winning streak comes to an end after narrow 66-63 loss away to Worthing Thunder.
Rockets have had their 6 game winning streak come to an end after a low scoring away loss to Worthing Thunder. The 66-63 loss is Rocket’s first of the year with the previous being to title rivals Newcastle Knights back in December.
The usually high scoring Rockets came out the gates slowly going down as much as 14 points in the first half. Rockets did well to cut into Worthing’s lead and by the third quarter the game was all to play for.
By the dying seconds of the game Rockets showed great grit and intelligence to keep going playing a fouling game which was sadly finished by a missed attempt at a game tying three points from Yusef Salih (5).
Yusef came off the bench on Sunday to then lead the team in scoring with a strong 19 points, this as well as 2 steals highlighted his work rate on both sides of the floor.
While Rockets are disappointed with the loss they are still level on points at the top of the table as Newcastle Knights lost to Nottingham Hoods 83-94. This means that Rockets still have the opportunity to go top of the British Championship Basketball standings assuming they win their game in hand.
Standouts:
- (5) Yusef Salih 19pts, 2ast, 2stl.
- (6) Elias Poorman 10pts, 3ast, 7reb.
- (8) Victor Olarerin 11pts, 4stl.
