Hanwell Town - Match Preview
Dorchester Town welcome Hanwell Town to the Avenue Stadium this Saturday (3pm KO) in a crunch Southern League Premier South clash.
The match, which could have significant implications as both clubs bid to stave off the threat of relegation, offers Tom Killick's side an opportunity to complete a league double over Hanwell, after recording a 2-0 away victory earlier this season.
However, anyone expecting this to be a forgone conclusion, should certainly think again. In recent seasons, Hanwell have proved to be somewhat of a bogey team to Dorchester, with themselves beating the Magpies home and away last season - the only side in the league to do so.
As we draw closer to the end of the season your support is more important than ever, so please do get yourself down to the Avenue and cheer on the boys, if you can.
Here's everything you need to know ahead of the visit of Hanwell.
Hanwell In Brief
Founded: 1947
Nickname: The Geordies
Stadium: The Oliver Connell & Son Community Stadium
Capacity: 3,000
Playing Surface: Grass
League Position: 17th
Ones To Watch
Alfie Pendlebury is one of Hanwell's key attacking threats, with the centre forward currently leading the goalscoring charts for the Geordies (five) in the Southern League Premier South.
Elsewhere, Hanwell captain and first choice goalkeeper Sam Beasant is an imposing figure between the sticks and brings a wealth of experience to his side, counting spells in the EFL with Cambridge United and Stevenage.
The Gaffer
Chris Moore is one of the league's longest serving figures in the dugout, holding the managerial reigns at Hanwell since 2018.
Moore has overseen a successful tenure at the Geordies, winning promotion to Step Three via the Isthmian League South Central Division playoffs in the 2021/22 season. He has since established them within the Southern League Premier South, securing an 8th place league finish last season.
Previous Meeting
Dorchester earned their second league win of this season last October, when they defeated Hanwell 2-0 at the Oliver Connell & Son Community Stadium.
Marcus Daws handed Dorchester the lead in the eleventh minute, firing home from Wayne Robinson's knockdown in the Hanwell penalty area.
The scoreline remained at 1-0 heading into the halftime break and the travelling supporters didn't have to wait long into the second half for Dorchester to extend their advantage.
This time Daws turned provider, sending in a delightful delivery for Jadyn Crosbie to score his first goal for the club and secure a much needed three points.
