Connah's Quay Nomads - Match Report - 01.11.25
Cardiff Met Fall to In-Form Connah’s Quay
Cardiff Met’s six-game unbeaten run came to an end at Cyncoed Campus this weekend, as they were beaten 3–0 by an impressive Connah’s Quay Nomads side.
Despite entering the match with four wins from their last five league outings, the Archers made a sluggish start. The visitors took the lead early on when a long ball over the top caused confusion in the Met back line. A tangle between Harry Franklin and Matt Chubb saw the referee point to the spot, and Rhys Hughes made no mistake- calmly sending goalkeeper Sam Seager the wrong way.
Just 15 minutes later, the Nomads doubled their advantage. After Met surrendered possession on the halfway, Hughes picked out Franklin with a perfectly weighted lofted pass. The forward drove into the box before rifling a right-footed strike in off the post at Seager’s near side.
Half-time: Cardiff Met FC 0–2 Connah’s Quay Nomads
The second half saw Met dominate possession and territory, but they struggled to turn control into clear chances. The visitors, content to sit deep, managed the game well and frustrated the hosts throughout.
In the 75th minute, Hughes struck again from the penalty spot - his second of the afternoon - to put the result beyond doubt.
The final stages were largely uneventful as Connah’s Quay slowed the tempo and comfortably saw out a commanding win.

Next up, the Archers face a tough trip to league champions The New Saints on Friday night, where they’ll look to bounce back to winning ways.
