Match Preview - Bromsgrove Sporting
Leek Town rescued a last-minute point away at Hebburn Town last weekend, coming from behind twice to draw 3–3, with Louis Potts firing home a 95th-minute equaliser. Despite early pressure and setbacks, including an early penalty miss from the Hornets, the Blues fought hard and even held a brief lead before the break, only for the Hornets to level just before half-time. It was a spirited performance full of character, and Leek can take plenty of confidence from it heading into this weekend’s cup fixture.
Bromsgrove Sporting have lost their last match away at Worcester City 3-0 on Tuesday leaving them 16th in their respective league. A similar position to the Blues in their own respective league so this will be a hard fought and evenly matched contest.

How are they doing?
So far this season, the Rouslers sit 16th in the Southern League Premier Division. They play in step 3 of the English non-league pyramid, so they are playing at a similar level to The Blues. They have won just 1 out of their last 5 league matches and most recently Bromsgrove slumped to a 3-0 defeat on the road versus Worcester City, which can certainly provide some encouragement for The Blues as we head into this cup tie.
In the FA Trophy, Bromsgrove sporting most recently beat Barwell FC 3-0. This was thanks to goals from Billy Shaw and Jack Newell before finishing Barwell off with James Sanderson firing home in the 92nd minute despite a sending off for forward Kobe Hall 2 minutes prior. With their cup form being so different to how they are in the league, this is certainly an enticing affair for Leek Town fans.
Their Main Man?
Aaron Roberts is a seasoned central defender and certainly one for the Leek Town attackers to look out for. The 31-year-old is the record appearance holder for The Rouslers, having played over 300 matches since joining the reformed club in 2010. Known for his leadership, aerial strength, and defensive reliability, Roberts has previously had spells at clubs including Evesham United, Worcester City, Hednesford Town and Alvechurch, before returning to Bromsgrove Sporting in 2025 after an unexpectedly short spell at Redditch United.
Off the pitch he is respected for his charismatic personality and community involvement, and he even earned the club’s “Director’s Player of the Season award” in 2024/25 and still remains a cornerstone of the team both on and off the field thanks to his priceless experience at the non-league level.
Their Gaffer?
Scott Adey-Linforth is the current manager of Bromsgrove Sporting, taking over in November 2024 following Paul Smith’s resignation. He has no professional playing career, instead he built his expertise through coaching and performance analysis, including his role as a first-team performance analyst at Aston Villa, where he applies a data-driven approach to player development and match preparation.
Scott has earned himself the status of a UEFA A Licence coach, previously serving as Bromsgrove’s first-team coach, helping shape the team’s strategy and structure.
Since becoming manager, the team has shown clear improvement, with his focus on defensive solidity, team cohesion, and tactical discipline evident in certain performances this season. Known for his analytical approach and dedication to developing players, Adey-Linforth is now a central figure in Bromsgrove Sporting’s ambitions in the Southern League Premier Central.
Bromsgrove Sporting Fc – have we met before ?
This will be the first fixture in recorded history between Leek Town and Bromsgrove Sporting, due to the geographical differences between the two clubs they have never been in the same league. They have never previously met making this a really unpredictable matchup for the Blues and certainly one to remember.
