Aldermore Reading Rockets edged Hemel Storm 93–91 in a gripping road contest to stay unbeaten in the early stages of the British Championship season.

Rockets started strongly, opening a 30–20 lead after the first quarter through confident ball movement and inside finishing. Hemel responded in the middle periods, closing the gap behind strong play from Nelson-Henry and Norman, setting up a dramatic finish.

Reading held their nerve in the closing minutes, making key free throws and defensive stops to seal the win. The fourth quarter saw both sides exchange short runs, but Rockets’ discipline and rebounding proved decisive as they matched Storm on the boards (41–41) and held firm on defence.

Malik Bryant led the way with a standout 27 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists, continuing his strong early-season form. Victor Olarerin added 22 points and 7 rebounds, while Zain Poorman chipped in with 13 points and efficient shooting (6/9 FG).

Hemel’s Nelson-Henry (20 points, 8 rebounds) and Norman (19 points) kept the hosts close, but Rockets’ collective composure down the stretch — with clean rotations and solid execution — secured the two-point victory.

Head Coach Sam Nuruzade said afterwards:

“That was a proper team win. Every player contributed at both ends, and we stayed focused under pressure. It’s another step in the right direction.”
