3 Wins on the Spin

Cardiff Met fought back from behind to take all three points at Stebonheath Stadium against Llanelli Town AFC on Tuesday night.

The first half offered little in the way of fluent football, as both sides battled through a scrappy contest of long balls and aerial duels. Jake Morris was a bright spark for the Archers, his left-footed deliveries providing their best chances of the half.

It was, however, Llanelli who struck first. Late in the opening period, striker Ethan Cann closed down Met goalkeeper Sam Seagar, pinched the ball, and calmly rolled it into an empty net.

After a scrappy 45 minutes, Met trailed 1–0 at the break.

Just four minutes into the second half, Met were handed a lifeline. Following some neat link-up play between Payne and Jones, the visitors were awarded a penalty. Captain CJ Craven made no mistake from the spot — sending the keeper the wrong way and smashing the ball into the right-hand corner.

The momentum swung firmly in the Archers’ favour, and by the 56th minute the comeback was complete. Payne’s cross found Jones at the back post, who nodded the ball across goal for Eliot Evans to finish from close range — his 80th Cymru Premier goal.

In the 71st minute, Harri John and Jasper Payne made way for substitutes Lewis Rees and Riley Lonergan. The change paid off almost instantly. Rees produced a moment of brilliance, flicking the ball with the outside of his boot over the Llanelli defence and into the path of Sam Jones. The forward capped a superb individual performance by volleying home across the keeper into the bottom corner.

Met came close to a fourth in the closing stages but couldn’t convert. They comfortably saw out the final minutes to seal a 3–1 victory — their third straight win, conceding just once in that run.

Next up, the Archers travel to North Wales on Saturday to face Colwyn Bay FC as they look to keep their winning momentum rolling.
