Cruising Past the Cofis: A Step In The Right Direction

It was a happy journey home from North Wales on Sunday evening for the Archers, who secured a superb 3-0 away victory against third-placed Caernarfon Town.

Met got off to a flying start, taking the lead inside just four minutes. Ryan Reynolds won the ball back in midfield and drove forward to spark the attack. After some clever footwork from Fumpa Mwandwe and a perfectly placed cross, Adam Roscrow finished clinically to put Met ahead.

The Archers dominated the first half, pressing aggressively and refusing to give Caernarfon any time on the ball. Despite the pressure, the hosts managed to keep the deficit to just one goal at the break.

The second half began in similar fashion, with Met’s relentless press quickly causing problems. On the 50-minute mark, Roscrow and Mwanadwe combined again to double the lead. Closing down Caernarfon goalkeeper Conor Roberts, Roscrow blocked his clearance into the path of Mwandwe, who raced onto it and smashed the ball into the empty net.

Caernarfon responded with a spell of possession and created a few half-chances, but Met’s back three of Craven, Chubb and Richards stood firm, dominating aerial battles and making vital blocks inside the box.

In the 76th minute, Met introduced fresh legs with Elliot Evans and Roscrow making way for Jasper Payne and Lewis Rees. The change paid off almost instantly as Payne struck just two minutes later, drilling a low right-footed effort into the bottom corner to seal the points.

Further changes saw Barney Soady replace the tireless Jake Morris in the 86th minute, with both wing-backs—Morris and Sam Jones—having worked tirelessly throughout.

After four minutes of added time, the final whistle confirmed Met’s first league win of the season and a clean sheet for 18 year old debutant goalkeeper Sam Seager.

The Archers will now look to build on this momentum when they host Bala Town next Saturday at Cyncoed Campus.
