Harrow at home ahead of stern test for Yellawomen

SIXTH-placed Ascot United welcome seventh-placed Harrow Borough to The Racecourse on Saturday as the Pitching-In Isthmian League programme continues.

The online-only matchday programme is here, containing the view of Rob and Gavin, plus David Burton’s report on the U18’s midweek draw at Fleet. The Non-League Paper column returns, and there are the usual stats. Look out for the forthcoming soccer camp advert, and pay attention to the fixtures, which have chopped and change but confirm next weekend’s trip to Bognor Regis is now on Sunday. Oh and there are more ramblings from The Editor!

Get your tickets here, including that hattie deal of a beer, burger and entry for some ridiculously well-priced contribution.

With one game of the month remaining, we’re also fast closing in on a supporters’ player of the month poll – and it promises to be an interesting one given Jaheim Kamara and Ibby Sankoh have both won two individual MOMs; Fope Deru and Kie Plumley scooping the others in the six matches so far. But that man Cheick Sylla can’t stop scoring – its 8 goals in 11 for the big man up top, including one in each of his last four!

The match is also set to be Khalid Simmo’s 50th for the club and we’d love a Simmo special strike to take his tally to ten…or even more if he finds his best shooting boots. The weekend’s fixtures are below, with 2nd-placed Raynes Vale entertaining 5th-placed Littlehampton Town and being the pick of the high-flying encounters.

If that’s not enough, Sunday’s Women’s game is set to be one of the biggest and most interesting in the Yellawomen’s history. The visitors on Sunday are AFC Bournemouth Women in the final game of their league cup group. The Cherries are currently leading the division above and made a major signing of striker Sophie Quirk – recently playing Championship (tier 2) football – and she happens to be a local girl having attended Charters School. Rumour has it there will be a busload of fans, plus a number of local friends in attendance.

The league cup format is somewhat convoluted, but essentially group winners go through plus the best 2nd-placed teams. Ascot will win the group with an [unlikely] win, but are still in the hunt for 2nd having won and drawn their opening two games – and even if they aren’t one of the best 2nd-placed teams they will enter a secondary cup; think of it as the Europa League compared to the Champions League!!!

Right, Editor needs a lie down. Reports to follow. Be there, or, er, be elsewhere…
