Penybont - 23.09.2025 - Match Report
Defeat in the Derby
It was a disappointing night in the derby on Tuesday for the Archers, who suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to their neighbours Penybont.
Cardiff Met recorded a club-record attendance of 738 fans for the clash against their local rivals. However, the match didn’t quite live up to the electric atmosphere generated by the home crowd.
Despite a positive start and strong control in possession, Penybont took an early lead after a mix-up between Craven and Jones allowed Bont talisman James Crole to score with a clever finish.
In the 15th minute, a well-worked Met move ended with a great chance for the in-form Mwandwe, whose shot was dramatically cleared off the line.
Just seven minutes later, Crole doubled his tally, making it 2-0. A long ball forward was flicked into his path by winger Daley, and the striker made no mistake.

Met came out strong after the break, moving the ball well and creating several decent chances. However, their momentum was short-lived, as Penybont added a third through substitute Ioan Phillips, who finished off a quick counterattack after a cross from the left.
A small boost came for Met just before the hour mark, as key defender Matthews Chubb made his return after four weeks sidelined through injury. His return will be vital as the Archers look to turn their form around in the coming weeks.
Penybont sealed the result in the 79th minute, with James Crole completing his hat-trick after Met failed to clear their lines.
Cardiff Met remain winless and now face a huge test this weekend as they travel to Caernarfon to take on the title chasers.
