On Tuesday night the Magpies will take on Plymouth Parkway at the Wyatt Homes Stadium, the second of three home games in the space of a week.

After this weekend’s 1-1 draw to newly promoted Evesham United, it’s a quick turnaround for the Magpies who will be hoping to pick up all three points during the week.

Wimborne go into this game sat in seventh place, on 12 points after eight games. Three points could be enough to sit in the play-off positions if results go our way. Parkway come into this one after a disappointing start to the season sat in 19thplace, with six points from their first eight games. On the road Parkway have drawn two and lost two.

Parkway were also recently knocked out of the FA Cup by Division One South side Frome Town, losing 4-0 at home. Wimborne recently beat National League South outfit Bath City 2-1 to secure a Third Round Qualifying FA Cup tie against another Worthing, another National League South side, on Saturday.

There is some interesting history between the two sides. In the 2021/22 season, Wimborne Town were relegated from the Southern League Premier South, with Plymouth Parkway trading places with the Magpies after being crowned champions of Division One South. Wimborne regained promotion after finishing top of Division One South in 2023/24, with last season being the first time the two sides had competed in the same division.

Last season, both sides took three points from each other across the campaign. After travelling to Devon in October, Wimborne were defeated 2-1 by Plymouth Parkway with Will Fletcher scoring our goal. In the return fixture in March, the Mags took all three points with a 1-0 victory, that man again Fletcher with the goal.

Wimborne should also have winger Max Bustamente back for Tuesday night, a timely return for the Chilean after Joe Ryan went off early against Evesham. As well as this, two signings were announced on Saturday with AFC Bournemouth and Aston Villa academy product Ajani Burchall and exciting young midfielder Antoine Atmadjov taking their place on the bench for the Evesham match.

Plymouth Parkway have two joint top scorers this season, Ryan Brett and Andrew ‘Rocky’ Neale with two goals each. The latter of which used to play for Truro before switching to the Yellows, where the 31-year-old scored the winner against St Albans to secure promotion to the National League.

The Magpies remain unbeaten at home this season after four league games and one FA Cup game, winning three and drawing two. A fantastic home record when you consider the quality of opposition Wimborne have faced at the Wyatt Homes Stadium already this season, adding to a home unbeaten run stretching back to February.

It will be an interesting evening of football on Tuesday night, so come and support the Magpies at home with kick-off at 7:30pm. Let’s hope for a good result and another home three points!
