The Aldermore Reading Rockets tipped off their 2025/26 campaign in style, defeating Worthing Thunder 103–87 in their first home game of the newly named BCB League and BCB Trophy.

In front of almost 350 fans at a loud Loddon Valley, the Rockets showcased a balanced and high-energy performance.

Top Performers:

  • Victor Olaerin led the way with 36 points on 15/22 shooting, adding 4 assists and 4 steals.
  • Malik Bryant impressed with 22 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.
  • Lewis Champion provided key scoring off the bench with 14 points, while Jax Bouknight added 13 points and 4 assists.

Worthing’s E. Maynard matched Olaerin with 36 points, but it wasn’t enough to slow the Rockets’ offensive flow.

Head Coach Samit Nuruzade praised the collective effort:

“The guys played with energy and shared the ball well. To have four players in double figures on opening day is a great sign for us moving forward.”

The Rockets now prepare for a double-header weekend:
