How are they doing?

The owls have had a mixed start to the 25/26 season. The newly promoted Cleethorpes were last seasons NPL East champions and enjoyed a great season. In their opening 7 games they have lost 3, drew 2 and won 2. Their 2 wins so far have come against Hyde United and fellow newcomers Stocksbridge Park Steels.

Their Main Man?

The Owls will be very happy that they retained the services of last years club top scorers. Joshua Walker missed out on the NPL golden boot by one goal (21 Goals), his team mates Curtis Bateson(16 Goals) and Adam Haw(15 Goals) also made the top ten. Between the three of them in their promotion campaign they scored a total of 52.

Their Gaffer?

Criag Rouse was appointed at the start of the 24/25 season having lead Pontefract Collieries to their highest ever finish. Prior to Pontefract he was assistant manager at Worksop for several years. Cleethorpes moved quick in the off season to get their man and it paid dividends, Rouse led the Owls to promotion as NPL East champions. With 28 wins, 9 draws and 5 losses amassing 93 points.

Cleethorpes Town  – Have we met before?

The Blues have taken on the Owls on 4 occasions dating back to the 2017/2018 season. Over those 4 games there have been 2 draws, 1 Leek win and 1 Cleethorpes win.

The highest scoring game was a 5 goal thriller in October 2020. Rob Stevenson, Will Saxon and Tim Grice helped Leek edge out a 3-2 home victory in front of 400 fans.

There have been 10 goals scored between the two sides in the 4 match history, 5 goals for each team. Purely based on head to head meetings there is an XG of 2.5 goals.
