Match Preview | Cheltenham Town Vs WCWFC
A quick turnaround sees City’s FA Women’s National League Cup campaign get underway on Thursday evening.
This Season
City fell to a 3-1 defeat to Barnsley on the opening day of the season as they travelled to Olympic Legacy Park on Sunday.
Worcester started well in the opening twenty minutes, but couldn’t take their chances, and Barnsley took advantage and went into the break 2-0 up after ending the half on the front foot.
Ten minutes from time, a Jess Bate thunderbolt into the top corner, her first for the club, was well deserved for a Worcester side that kept pushing Barnsley to their limits.
Unfortunately for City, a mix-up at the back gifted Barnsley their third and ended City’s hopes of going back to Sixways with any points.
Cheltenham, in the meantime, were beaten 2-0 at home to Exeter City in their first game of the 2025/2026 season.
Last Season
The hosts finished 8th in the Southern Premier Division, accumulating 23 points with 7 wins, 2 draws, and 13 defeats.
Worcester City Women finished in 10th place and made history once again by securing their FA Women’s National League status for another campaign.
