The FA Women’s National League (FA WNL) season kicks off as City travel to Olympic Legacy Park in Sheffield.

Previous Meeting

Back in April, in City’s final away contest of the season, the two sides played out a thrilling 3-3 draw, a draw that secured Worcester City Women’s National League status for the second consecutive season.

The game started at a frantic pace with three goals in fifteen minutes as skipper Jess Fassnidge struck a shot from inside the box, after the ball broke to her.

The lead would be short-lived after Barnsley’s Caroline Nuttall struck back with a shot from distance.

Olivia Mitcham in the 29th minute put City back in the lead after forward Chloe Bellamy, who broke the offside trap and squared the ball to Mitcham at the far post for a tap-in.

Two minutes after the break, Tally Diamond equalised, before Caroline Nuttall put Barnsley into the lead just before the hour mark.

City pushed and pushed and sensed a goal was coming, and then deep into stoppage time, Chloe Bellamy drove into space and hit a shot into the bottom right-hand corner to earn City a hard-fought point.

Last Season

Hosts Barnsley finished in sixth place in the Women’s National League Division One Midlands, registering 33 points, which included 10 wins, 3 draws, and 9 defeats.

Worcester City Women finished in 10th place and made history once again by securing their Women’s National League Status for another campaign.
