After a 0-6 reverse against newly crowned champions TNS last time out, Met travelled north to face a Bala side who were yet to register a phase two victory, sitting 9 points below the Archers in 6th place.

The hosts were looking to secure their first win over the Archers this season and had the first chance of the game, Abudaki crossing for Peate but the defender headed wide of the target much to the relief of the Met defence.

Met gradually grew into the game and nearly took the lead midway through the half, a long free-kick from Veale fell to Eliot Evans but the midfielder was unable to convert, seeing his left-footed effort go just wide of the post.

Minutes later a flowing Met attack gave captain CJ Craven a chance but his shot from the edge of the area was gathered by Torrance.

With half-time beckoning, Met came within a whisker of opening the scoring, a Dan Barton corner was cleared to the edge of the box and returned by Soady however Matt Chubb’s header came back off the post to see the sides go into the break level at 0-0.

Early in the second period another corner from Barton found Sam Jones at the back post but the Met striker was unable to keep his volley down and saw his effort sail over the bar.

Already on a yellow card, Dan Malone was given his marching orders with 10 minutes remaining, a late tackle on Barton gave the referee little option but to brandish a second yellow and send the Bala midfielder off.

Against the 10 men, Met looked to claim all three points and Torrance had to be at his best to deny Lewis Rees, the Archers winger controlling a long ball superbly before unleashing a stinging left foot drive which the Bala keeper parried to safety to ensure the spoils were shared as the full-time whistle blew.

After last week’s heavy defeat, Ryan Jenkins will no doubt be pleased to travel back to South Wales with a clean sheet, however the Archers will need to show more of cutting edge in their next game against a Haverfordwest side they are yet to score against in their previous three meetings.
