The best leader for our coaching staff? The one who’s already built success with his own hands. A deep thinker, a professor on the pitch, and a mentor beyond it—Vincent Mkhwanazi returns as Steel City’s Director of Coaching.

In our inaugural season, he coached us to a head-turning 3rd-place finish—our highest ever. In ‘24, he laid yet another foundation, guiding our first Women’s U23 squad to a stunning 2nd-place finish.

A native of Soweto, South Africa, and an Olivet Nazarene alum, Mkhwanazi’s influence extends far beyond match days. He refines the craft of current professional players, leads both boys’ and girls’ programs at Kankakee High School and directs Evolution SC South. His leadership has earned recognition from the Daily Journal WGN, and ABC 7—not just for shaping players, but for shaping lives.

More than a coach. More than a mentor. Vince is one of the game’s great minds and one of its best humans.
